| I know it's been about a zillion years since I've written in this. Im not even sure people read it anymore. But...I don't like the scoldings I've gotten for not letting people know I am getting married. In about a year. Not exact date is set. We're too busy right now moving in together. We haven't done the formal engagement thing either. I suppose we will once we have time again. But don't expect to ever see a diamond on these hands. I don't want the blood of young African children on conscious or on my jewelery. Once we set a date and place I will let everyone know. Also, it's not the kind of wedding where there will be bridesmades and groomsmens and flower girls. It will be an outdoor wedding -most likely in a park and will be in an indigenous way. There will be a reception and I hope that will be a party and a half. I am thinking taco cart, and multiple kinds of cake, fun activities for kids (I hate weddings where kids "aren't allowed to attend", lots of good music and lots of friends and family...But all that in time. I will be sure to keep everyone updated henceforth. | | |

Nueva York. La compañía estadunidense Brown-Forman compró la marcas mexicanas Tequila Herradura y El
Jimador por 876 millones de dólares para consolidar su posición en este sector, impulsado por la cada vez mayor presencia hispana en Estados Unidos.
El acuerdo alcanzado con el Grupo Industrial Herradura también incluye la adquisición de una nueva marca de mezcla de tequila lista para servir, así como factorías y su red de ventas y distribución en México, indicó en un comunicado la empresa estadunidense.
Brown-Forman, fabricante del whiskey Jack Daniel"s y el vodka Finlandia, dijo que la operación reducirá sus ganancias entre ocho y 12 centavos de dólar por acción en el año fiscal 2007, incluyendo los costos de transición y otros gastos extraordinarios.
La operación estará completada antes del 31 de diciembre, después de obtener el visto bueno de las autoridades competentes tanto en Estados Unidos como en México.
"Estas marcas nos ayudarán a hacer avanzar nuestro negocio en la creciente población hispana de los Estados Unidos y a incrementar nuestra participación en la excitante cultura de cocktails del país, dado que el Margarita, que se hace a base de tequila, es el trago más
pedido", dijo Paul Varga, presidente ejecutivo de Brown-Forman.
La compañía fundada en 1870 en Lousiville, Kentucky, vendió en 2005, 2.7 mil millones de dólares, de los que 2.1 mil millones los obtuvo de su división de vinos y licores. | | |
